About Fleas

Cat flea ("Ctenocephalides felis")

This is your common household cat flea. Despite the name "cat flea," this flea will thrive off of cats and dogs. This flea transmits typhus and cat-scratch disease (CSD).

Early Detection

While bathing your pet, if you see what appears to be a flea, immediate treatment is necessary. You never know what that flea is carrying, so time is of the essence. Fleas reproduce and spread at a very rapid pace. Complete infestation can happen before you know it.

White Paper Test

A common way to test to see what your flea population is to take a piece of white paper, lay it in the middle of the floor and walk around it in a normal manner. The fleas will migrate to the paper and you can then judge the severity of the infestation.

If more than a quarter of the page has fleas, it's time to call us.

This is another type of Flea (species name "Michael Balzary"). This flea is not common in Missouri, and luckily, we haven't had to encounter this yet.
